Many Filipinos have been drawn to all things Korean in recent years. From music, food, skincare products, to TV shows – we can’t deny the ubiquitous presence of Korean culture in the Philippines.
Given the popularity of Hallyu culture in the country, it’s not surprising to learn that we’ll get to watch a K-drama-inspired Filipino series soon. This October, Viu is set to premiere “K-Love” – an original Pinoy TV series made for K-drama fans.
If you’re a solid K-drama fan, you’re probably familiar with the whirlwind of emotions we have to go through after finishing a whole series – from kilig, sadness, guilt, to happiness. This is why we can’t wait to binge-watch “K-Love” (while eating our favorite Korean and Pinoy snacks, of course) and see where the plot will take us.

As the title suggests, the show follows the story of five friends from different walks of life. In the series, we’ll witness how their love for K-drama would lead them to take risks in life and pursue their happy endings. A lot of K-drama fans might be able to relate to this story!
The all-star crew of “K-Love” are composed of former Marvel Studios executive Corinna Vistan, former Summit Publications editor-in-chief Tara Sering, best-selling author Tweet Sering, and cinematographer Ian Takahashi who has previously worked on films and videos like James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad 2 and Harry Styles’ Falling music video.
They are also joined by former Walt Disney Studios executive Lea Dizon, seven-time Emmy Awards winner Bobby Yan, fashion stylist and current Vogue Philippines fashion editor Pam Quinones, and Executive Producer Katherine Visconti, who has worked on shows like Keifer Sutherland’s Designated Survivor and CBS’s FBI.
The “K-Love” series will be starring sought-after Filipino celebrities too, including Iza Calzado, Isabelle Daza, Sue Ramirez, Gabby Padilla, and Jake Cuenca.
In the series, we’ll meet Tish (Iza Calzado), a brand strategist who struggles with constant pressure of settling down and building her own family; Shiela (Isabelle Daza), a full-time mom and wife who tends to be a perfectionist; and Val (Sue Ramirez), a young Fil-Am entrepreneur venturing into the tech industry.
There’s also Frances (Gabby Padilla), an idealistic, quirky, intelligent woman whose love for K-drama inspires her to find her ultimate oppa in real life and Jay (Jake Cuenca), the son of a wealthy businessman who tries to carve a name for himself and step out of the shadows of his father.
