Best TV Series Coming to Paramount+ in October 2022 – MovieWeb

From an animated Star Trek adventure to the continuation of The Good Fight, here’s a list of TV series coming to Paramount+ in October 2022.
Streaming has become a television standard for many people over the past few years. Many viewers have chosen to “cut the cord” and use only streaming apps vs. regular cable television. The Wall Street Journal reported that “Americans spent more of their July TV-viewing time streaming content on services such as Netflix, YouTube, and HBO Max than they did watching cable television.” The article went on to state that in July 2022 “broadcast TV’s share of viewership shrank” and had “a nearly 10% decline from a year earlier.” It seems more and more people want the freedom to watch their favorite shows whenever and wherever they choose without being held to a set viewing timeframe.
This is excellent news for the newer streaming platform Paramount+, which has only been in service since 2019. Prior to being Paramount+, the CBS streaming platform was known as CBS All Access. This new name and rebranding opened the doors to allow CBS, Viacom, and Paramount Pictures, who merged to create Paramount+, a place to create new and original content. Star Trek: Discovery, Big Brother, SEAL Team, and even SpongeBob SquarePants have found a home on Paramount+. Here’s a look at the TV shows Paramount+ has coming in October 2022.
When The Good Fight starts, a year has passed after The Good Wife's final episode's events. In Season 1, the young attorney Maia Rindell (Rose Leslie) had her reputation ruined by a massive financial fraud, which also wiped off Diane Lockhart's (Christine Baranski) funds. After being ejected from Lockhart and Lee, they join Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) at a prestigious law firm in Chicago. The program received an 80% good rating on Metacritic. With such glowing reviews, Season 6 will no doubt enthrall viewers. Season 6 of The Good Fight continues the plotlines from earlier episodes and introduces fresh difficulties for these attorneys. The Good Fight has received 59 award nominations, 6 award wins, and 2 Emmy nominations for its music. Sadly, Season 6 is set to be the final season of the show. It began airing weekly episodes on Paramount+ in September 2022, and will continue on October 3.

On October 27, Star Trek: Prodigy will return for 10 additional Season 1 episodes. For the streaming platform Paramount and the cable network Nickelodeon, Kevin and Dan Hageman produced the animated television series Star Trek: Prodigy, which continues the Star Trek narrative. A ragtag group of teenage aliens (played by Brett Gray, Ella Purnell, and Jason Mantzoukas) discovers the USS Protostar, an abandoned Starfleet vessel, in the Tars Lamora prison colony in 2383, five years after the USS Voyager returned to Earth at the conclusion of Star Trek: Voyager. They must learn to cooperate as they navigate the ship from the Delta Quadrant to the Alpha Quadrant after taking possession of it. Murf, an invincible blob with superb timing and a taste for spacecraft components, is even voiced by the illustrious Dee Bradley Baker. The second season of Star Trek: Prodigy has already been ordered and is scheduled to premiere in 2023, per Variety.
The television series The Ex-Wife is based on Jess Ryder's 2018 novel of the same name. The psychological suspense storyline gives a whole new meaning to the term "home wrecker," wonderfully expressing the tense scenario that the primary heroine, Tasha (Céline Buckens), finds herself in when her husband's ex-wife won't leave their life. Even when Tasha discovers her husband Jack (Tom Mison) and their infant missing, she begins to question what occurred. Fans will be happy to learn that The Ex-Wife’s screenplay was written by British actress Catherine Steadman, well known for her role as Mabel Lane Fox in Downton Abbey. Although a precise release date has yet to be confirmed, Paramount+ plans to release The Ex-Wife sometime in October 2022.
Robin is a writer who annoys her family by breaking the movie magic because she’s always asking questions like, “Why is that dead character blinking?” or “How did they get that shot?” and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Her favorites include Harry Potter, Supernatural, Doctor Who, Teen Wolf, Marvel, Gilmore Girls, and more.
