Mega Global Corporation — the company behind the #1 sardines brand in the country, Mega Sardines — has introduced a new subsidiary, Mega Prime Foods Inc. (MPFI), to set itself apart from the fishing fleet and canning operations side of the corporation and to professionalize its corporate structure in preparation for future growth of the company.
Mega Prime Foods Inc. (MPFI), which was officially launched last October 11 at the Okujo Rooftop Japanese Restaurant in Quezon City to members of the business press, will expand Mega’s current portfolio of food products that have become a staple in many Filipino homes.  As the largest of Mega’s subsidiaries, it plays a key role in ensuring that the group’s commitment to nation-building is met. Its expanded line-up of products embodies its belief that nutritious food should be easily accessible to all Filipinos, as captured in its tagline of improving every day, one meal at a time.
To support this goal, MPFI is ramping up domestic food production with a vision to support the community’s growing needs. As a testament to its commitment to supporting the country in the process of nation-building, MPFI will be opening a manufacturing facility in Batangas, which can produce healthy, nutritious, and affordable products needed by the community. The opening of this new plant helps create employment and livelihood opportunities that can help Filipino families recover from the ill effects of the pandemic, thereby spurring economic recovery.  At the same time, the Mega Manufacturing Plant will be opened to field trips to show that MPFI is committed to support nutrition with proper education and boost tourism.
As a world-class facility, MPFI manufactures food products to global specifications. The company complies with internationally recognized certifications and standards such as FSSC: 22000, HACCP, EU, and HALAL. The Batangas Plant will act in accordance with these strict international standards. Further, it uses best practices and innovations in its manufacturing and business processes, ensuring that only top-quality products reach the homes of millions of Filipinos who depend on its product.
To ensure that the company always puts the welfare of Filipinos at the core of its actions, MPFI will be led by a team of professionals who would ensure that its new product lines are safe, of high quality, and globally competitive. MPFI is committed to sustainable practices such as zero-waste manufacturing capability and sustainable energy sources, and will endeavor to work for a food-secure Philippines through its various initiatives and innovations.
“Food security is essential to the well-being of Filipinos and is critical to the country’s socio-economic development. We recognize that we have a key role to play in ensuring food security and in nation-building. Through our innovations and investments in our people and processes, we are confident
that MPFI can help the Philippines achieve food security while at the same time bringing sarap, saya, and sustansya to millions of Filipino families,” said Michelle Tiu Lim-Chan, Chief Operating Officer, Mega Prime Foods Inc.
Through MPFI, Mega Global’s passion and mission is well placed to meet its vision of providing Filipinos affordable and deliciously healthy meals.
